Making potassium-rich fertilizer from banana peels is an excellent way to recycle kitchen waste and provide nutrients to your plants. Follow these simple steps to create your own banana peel fertilizer:

### Materials Needed:
1. Banana peels (fresh or dried)
2. Water
3. Container with a lid (e.g., bucket or jar)
4. Optional: Mortar and pestle or blender

### Steps:

1. **Collect Banana Peels:**
Gather banana peels from your kitchen. You can use fresh peels immediately or dry them for later use.

2. **Dry the Peels (Optional):**
If you're drying the peels, spread them out on a baking sheet or tray and leave them in a well-ventilated area until they are completely dry. This may take a few days, depending on the humidity levels.

3. **Break or Grind Peels:**
Once the peels are dry, break them into smaller pieces or grind them into a fine powder using a mortar and pestle or a blender. Grinding will accelerate the decomposition process.

4. **Place in Container:**
Transfer the dried or fresh banana peels into a container with a lid. If using fresh peels, you may want to cut them into smaller pieces to speed up decomposition.

5. **Add Water:**
Cover the banana peels with water. Use enough water to completely submerge the peels.

6. **Fermentation:**
Close the lid of the container and let the mixture ferment for about 2-3 weeks. During this time, the water will absorb the nutrients from the banana peels.

7. **Strain the Liquid:**
After 2-3 weeks, strain the liquid from the container. This liquid will be rich in potassium and other nutrients from the banana peels.

8. **Application:**
Dilute the strained liquid with water in a ratio of about 1:5 (one part liquid fertilizer to five parts water). Use this diluted mixture to water your plants or as a foliar spray. Avoid using the fertilizer concentrate directly on plants, as it may be too potent and cause harm.

9. **Repeat:**
You can repeat this process whenever you have more banana peels available, ensuring a constant supply of potassium-rich fertilizer for your plants.

###Tips:
- Use the fertilizer within a few weeks of straining for best results.
- Store any leftover liquid fertilizer in a sealed container in a cool, dark place.
- Always test the fertilizer on a small area of your plants before applying it widely, to ensure it doesn't cause any adverse effects.

By following these steps, you can create a homemade potassium-rich fertilizer from banana peels to nourish your plants and promote healthy growth.

Slash And Burn

The tribal people find it difficult to move from one place to another. Ash produced during burning acts as a natural fertilizer. It provides a clear patch of land to cultivate crops. The burning helps clear the ground and return the crop residue back into organic matter, which can be incorporated back into the soil.

In the olden days, mustard seed plants were planted around agricultural fields to attract honey bees for pollination and to control insects by consuming them, thereby protecting the fields.
